Calendar Overview

Prev Next

The Roster Calendar provides a visual representation of rostered shifts, showing the defined positions/roles allocated to the roster and the assigned resources, if applicable.

It is typically configured to display the current working week, the start of the roster, or the end of the roster, depending on whether the roster is future, current, or ending. However, it can be adjusted to show multiple days, with users able to navigate forwards and backwards as needed.

The calendar view highlights unallocated positions and shifts, displaying them at the top of the list for action by a manager or supervisor.

In unplanned absences, managers can reassign shifts by searching for a new resource, dragging the shift to an available resource on the Roster Calendar, or cancelling the shift.

Typically, rosters are initially created by assigning recurring patterns to positions/roles (e.g., 5 days on, 2 days off, 9 AM–5 PM). The rostering engine then automatically generates individual shifts as far into the future as needed, while Frontline Planners make manual adjustments within the calendar for ad-hoc and in-week changes.

The calendar also highlights any shifts a resource has on other rosters, public holidays, or booked leave, providing visibility into staff members' other commitments in relation to the scheduling of a specific roster. Additionally, the Roster Calendar indicates whether a period is locked or unlocked.

Important

There are several settings that control the experience of the Roster Calendar, including the layout and content displayed on the screen. These settings allow the experience to be tailored to show varying levels of detail depending on the roster being viewed. For more details, please refer to Administration – Roster Settings.
