Time Entry Manager Control

Prev Next

The Time Entry Manager is a custom PowerApps Component Framework (PCF). The Time Entry Manager control is embedded into the ‘My Active Time Entries’ view. It provides frontline users with an interactive, calendar-style interface to manage their time entries efficiently throughout the week.

The Time Entry Manager:

  • Groups entries by Roster for easier review.

  • Supports bulk actions and faster data entry.

  • Displays submitted and proposed entries in one place.

Weekly Calendar View

When you open the ‘My Active Time Entries’ view, you can view a weekly calendar that is structured using the following attributes:

  • Date (columns) – 7 Days display (Sunday to Saturday).

  • Rosters (rows) – Entries are grouped by the roster or classification of the shift.

  • Time Entry Cards (cells) – Display both actual and proposed time entries.

Each cell may contain one or more time entries that are displayed as colour-coded cards inside each ‘day’ cell. Cards are styled to indicate their current state:

Card Selection & Actions

You can click on any card to perform actions available in the standard view:

  • Multiple record (card) selection for bulk action.

  • Perform command bar actions such as Edit, Delete, or Submit.

  • Open the compact Time Entry form via the custom edit button provided on the card.

This enables easy access to individual records without leaving the calendar.

Note

Selecting a proposed card allows you to generate a new Time Entry directly from the Shift information it represents.

Creating Time Entries from Proposed Cards

There are two ways to create Time Entries from proposed shifts:

  1. Create All Time Entries for Week

    • The Create All Time Entries for Week button will generate entries for all proposed cards in the current week. This option is useful when creating all entries at the beginning of the week.

  1. Create Time Entries from Shifts (Selective)

    • You can select one or more proposed cards and then use the Create Time Entries from Shifts button. This creates entries only for the selected placeholders, giving you control over which days or shifts you wish to submit.

Once created, these entries can be:

  • Edited individually via the edit card action.

  • Modified in bulk updated using the standard grid selection.

  • Submitted through the command bar.

Visual Grouping

Cards are grouped vertically by Roster. For example, Project, Leave Roster, or Non-Roster.

This provides visibility into:

  • Where your time is allocated.

  • What categories or shifts are missing time entries.

  • How your total weekly time is tracking (total shown per row and column).

Configurable Status Colour

Displayed as a coloured square or badge within the card (For example, beside the word “Draft” or “Submitted”).

  • Indicates the Time Entry Status of the entry (e.g., Draft, Submitted, Approved, Rejected)

  • Recommended to use sharper, high contrast colours to stand out clearly

  • Helps users quickly identify entries that need attention or are awaiting action

Configurable Category Background Colour

The entire card background is tinted based on the Time Entry Category (For example, Project, Leave, Training).

  • Provides contextual meaning for the type of time being entered.

  • Uses softer, low-saturation colours for a clean, non-intrusive visual experience.

  • Makes it easy to distinguish between types of work without overwhelming the calendar view.
